What is cell-free DNA?

Nucleic acid detection in blood, including detection and analysis of cell-free DNA (cf-DNA) in plasma, is an emerging and promising field in disease diagnosis. Analysis of cell-free DNA (cf-DNA) has potential application in the diagnosis and monitoring of acute pathologies, as well as in prenatal diagnosis of fetal genetic diseases. Although present in small amounts in the plasma of healthy individuals, increased levels of circulating cf-DNA in plasma appear to be associated with a number of clinical disorders including cancer, stroke, trauma, myocardial infarction, autoimmune disorders, and pregnancy-associated complications.

Studies indicate cf-DNA has potential application as a non-invasive, rapid and sensitive tool for molecular diagnosis and monitoring of acute pathologies as well as application in prenatal diagnosis of fetal genetic diseases.

Unique Stabilization

Cell-Free DNA BCT is a blood collection tube with a formaldehyde-free preservative stabilizing nucleated blood cells. This unique stabilization prevents the release of genomic DNA, allowing isolation of high-quality cell-free DNA. It has also been demonstrated to minimize the degradation of CTCs. Cell-Free DNA BCT reduces the need for immediate plasma preparation and CTC processing due to its unique stabilization properties.

Cell-Free DNA BCT provides a standardized method for sample collection, transport and stabilization of cell-free plasma DNA and is intended for clinical research, drug discovery, and diagnostic assay development.

Multiple Applications

Recover high-quality cell-free DNA suitable for a wide range of downstream applications commonly used in clinical research studies, drug discovery and diagnostic assay development.

Consistent Result

Enhanced stability and recovery of cell-free plasma DNA minimizes variability associated with cell-free DNA sample preparation.

Improved Logistics

Cell-Free DNA BCT reduces the need for immediate plasma preparation due to unique stabilization properties.

Cell-free DNA is stable for up to 14 days, while circulating tumor cells are stable for up to 7 days, at room temperature, allowing convenient sample collection, transport and storage.
